Wigan & Leigh Hospice is inviting local people to come together this September for its first ever Twilight Walk – a special evening dedicated to remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones.
Taking place on Thursday 17 September 2026, the gentle walk will begin and end at Wigan & Leigh Hospice on Kildare Street, Hindley, guiding participants through the peaceful surroundings of Amberswood Local Nature Reserve.
Created especially for people who wish to remember someone they love, the Twilight Walk will offer a calm, inclusive space to reflect, share memories and come together with others. Along the route, walkers will have opportunities to light a candle, leave a message and take a quiet moment to remember someone special. Whether their loss is recent or many years ago, everyone is welcome.
Lindsey Butler, Fundraising and Community Engagement Manager at Wigan & Leigh Hospice, said: “We know that for so many people, memories of someone they love are never far away. We wanted to create an event that gives people the time and space to remember those special people, while coming together as a community.
“Our first Twilight Walk is going to be a really special evening. It’s not about speed or distance – it’s about taking a moment to reflect, share memories and celebrate lives. We hope people will join us, walk together and help us continue providing vital care and support to local families.”
Registration opens at the main hospice building at 5pm, with the walk beginning at 6pm. The registration fee is £25 for adults and £10 for under-18s, and every participant will receive a free event t‑shirt. Refreshments will be available to buy at the hospice before and after the walk.
