Bolton Post

from 19th Century Powerhouse to cultural powerhouse

At the northern end of Greater Manchester, near to the beautiful West Pennine Moors, Bolton has a rich history as a 19th-century cotton-spinning powerhouse. Cultural offerings across Bolton are diverse, from the acclaimed Octagon Theatre and Albert Halls; to Bolton’s award winning Food and Drink Festival which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Sport also features strongly with the Toughsheet Community Stadium being home to Bolton Wanderers FC. And let’s not forget those famous Boltonians in the world of entertainment including Peter Kay and Vernon Kay, with Sir Ian McKellen having moved to Bolton at age 11 where he attended Bolton School.

Bolton Post arrives at a time when the need for a community-focused platform to share all that is happening across the Borough is more relevant than ever, helping to shine a light on the local communities across the borough as well as the growth and development of Bolton as a place to live, work and visit.
