Join the Post Newspapers Delivery Team

Post Newspapers are published by the local Social Enterprise Drawing Board Productions Community Interest Company, and our volunteers are essential in ensuring local residents receive their monthly news right at their doorstep.

On this page we’ve detailed some of the health and safety and safeguarding considerations with becoming a volunteer.

Health & Safety First

Your Delivery, Your Choice

  • Set Your Own Volume: Decide how many newspapers you can comfortably manage each month.
  • Stay Within Your Limits: It is important to only commit to a volume you are certain you can deliver.
  • Flexible Adjustments: If you ever need to increase or decrease your delivery load, just let the Post Newspapers team know.

Safe Handling & Lifting

  • Lifting Technique: When picking up newspapers from the ground, always bend from the knees.
  • Comfort First: Only lift and carry a volume of newspapers that feels comfortable for you at any given time.
  • Manageable Loads: It is your responsibility to decide the specific number of newspapers you can comfortably carry while out on your route.

On the Route: Staying Safe

  • Weather Awareness: Do not go out if the weather is poor or dangerous, especially in icy conditions.
  • Personal Safety First: Your safety is the priority; do not take unnecessary risks while out on your route.
  • Hazard Spotting: Stay alert for trip hazards or obstacles on footpaths as you deliver.
  • Your Final Call: Ultimately, it is your responsibility to decide if conditions are safe enough for you to deliver that day.
