The Best Start Family Hubs in Trafford have announced their new autumn programme of events to keep children active and engaged, whatever the weather.
Trafford Council is encouraging all children to get moving, keep playing and carry on learning as colder temperatures and shorter days make getting outside more difficult. From Sensory Rooms and Storytime to Messy Play and LEGO clubs, the hubs have something to occupy every young mind.
The Trafford Family Hub network operates as a one-stop shop for accessible and effective services from pregnancy to early adulthood. It brings together information, advice, and activities with access to services such as health visitors, midwives, and guidance for special educational needs and disabilities.
Specific programmes of Best Start Family Hub events will be running across Trafford in the North (Stretford and Old Trafford), Central (Sale), West (Urmston, Flixton and Partington), and South (Altrincham and Timperley).
The new active autumn schedules from the Family Hub network are already proving to be a hit with parents.
A parent at the Trafford Family Hub North said: “I have twins, so this is an opportunity for them to play together and explore in a safe space. Your child will love it!”
Cllr George Devlin, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Children, Babies and Young People, said: “The autumn schedules are a fantastic way to keep children moving and learning at the start of their lives. It’s also another great example of the positive impact Family Hubs have for parents and carers, with help available on the doorstep of every community and neighbourhood in Trafford.”
A parent from Urmston said: “For us, it’s about socialising, getting advice and allowing development for my little one. With my first child I had postnatal depression and this space was a lifeline.”
Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, said: “Creating opportunities to help children in Trafford achieve and thrive is a commitment we work hard to deliver all year round. These autumn activities demonstrate how nothing should be a barrier to that, not even the Trafford weather.”
“Come rain or shine, the Family Hubs are always here for children, parents, and carers.”
