A credit union is a great way for local people and organisations to increase the supply of affordable credit within the community, and therefore helping its community become more financially independent and stable.
All surplus revenue a credit union makes is given back to its members in the form of a dividend; reduced loan interest rates; and/or reinvested back into the organisation to improve its service provision.
Stockport Credit Union was formed in 2005 from the merger of the Brinnington Credit Union with the Houldsworth, Offerton, and Werneth Credit Union – following on from a history spanning back to 1989.
Nowadays, anyone who lives or works in an SK postcode can become a member.
