Bramhall Captain, Mike Whelan, and Lady Captain, Jean Hindmoor, are supporting the same Charity this year SAMEYOU, which supports brain injury survivors and was founded by Game of Throne’s Emilia Clarke, who suffered two brain haemorrhages,
It’s a frightening thought that one in three adults will suffer some form of brain injury, haemorrhages, tumours, strokes, accidents etc.
Jean said: “We chose this Charity because our Captain’s daughter, Sophie, suffered a sub arachnoid brain haemorrhage in her early 30’s and she found this Charity very helpful in her recovery and Sophie is now a member of the Golf Club.
“Relatively new club member Helen Wright was very keen to do something for the Charity as her first husband died from a sub arachnoid brain haemorrhage in his 30’s leaving her with two young boys and eight weeks pregnant with their third.
“Although her husband did not survive she nevertheless feels very passionately about a Charity which helps survivors.
Helen is 68 years old and she decided to do 68 holes in a day with the sponsors’ money going towards our charity.
“She started at 5:30 am and finished about 8:30 pm, after playing 68 holes to match her age!
“Helen was delighted to raise £3,500 on the day which will add to the other charity efforts we will be holding throughout the year.”
